# Share Targeted News and Promotions in Your App Feed

> Keep customers informed with targeted news posts, seasonal promotions, and product announcements delivered directly in your app's news feed.

The News Feed is your direct line to customers inside the app. Use it to share product launches, time-limited promotions, company announcements, event previews, or internal updates with employees — all from a single publishing tool. Posts support images and rich text, can be targeted to specific customer segments, and can be scheduled in advance so your content goes live at exactly the right moment, even while you are away from the desk.

## What You Can Publish

The News Feed supports a wide range of content types. Match the format and tone to the goal of each post:

| Post type              | Description                                                                                                                        |
| ---------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Product launch** | Announce new arrivals, explain key features, and link directly to the product in your Shop module. |
| **Seasonal promotion** | Highlight a limited-time offer — schedule the post in advance and let it expire automatically. |
| **Event announcement** | Preview an upcoming event, build anticipation, and drive traffic to the Events module entry. |
| **Company news** | Share milestones, behind-the-scenes stories, or brand updates that build customer affinity. |
| **Employee update** | Restrict internal news — team announcements, shift changes, policy updates — to a staff segment so it never surfaces to customers. |

## Scheduling Posts with Content Filters

Use the **Available from** and **Available until** fields to schedule news posts so they go live and expire automatically — no manual intervention required.

* **Available from** — set this to the moment you want the post to appear in the feed. Customers will not see it before this time.
* **Available until** — set this to remove the post automatically after the campaign ends. This prevents outdated promotions or expired offers from staying visible beyond their intended window.

Scheduled posts can be created weeks in advance, making it straightforward to plan editorial calendars around seasonal peaks, product release dates, or recurring campaigns.

<Note>
  When the **Active** toggle is switched on for a post that has no scheduling window set, the post goes live immediately. If you are preparing content ahead of time and are not ready to publish, leave **Active** off until you are ready — or set an **Available from** date to have the post activate automatically at the right time.
</Note>

## Targeting Posts with Segments

Assign one or more **Segments** to a news post to restrict it to a specific customer group. Customers outside the assigned segment will not see the post in their feed at all.

This lets you personalise the feed without creating separate apps or content libraries:

* Send a loyalty-member-only offer exclusively to your top-tier segment
* Share a reactivation promotion only with customers who have not visited in 90 days
* Publish employee news to a staff segment, keeping it completely invisible to regular customers

Leave the segment field empty to publish a post to all users.

## Combining News Posts with Push Notifications

A news post sits in the feed waiting to be discovered — but pairing it with a push notification delivers it actively to every opted-in customer's lock screen. Use push to announce that a new post is live; customers tap through directly to the feed entry.

<Tip>
  Write the push notification as a teaser rather than a summary. Reveal just enough to create curiosity — "Something new just dropped. Open the app to find out." — and let the full news post deliver the detail. This approach increases both open rates and time spent in the app.
</Tip>

## Publishing a News Post

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the News Feed module">
    Navigate to **Content → News** in your Pocketshop dashboard and click **New post**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Write a compelling headline and body">
    Enter a clear, attention-grabbing **title** and write the full post content in the body editor. Use formatting to break up long text and keep the post scannable.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Upload an image">
    Add a high-quality image that reinforces the message — product shots, event visuals, or branded campaign graphics all work well. Posts with images consistently outperform text-only entries in feed engagement.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Assign a segment (optional)">
    If this post is intended for a specific audience, select the appropriate **Segment(s)**. Leave blank to reach all users.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Schedule the post (optional)">
    Set **Available from** and/or **Available until** to control exactly when the post appears and disappears from the feed. For an immediate publish, leave these fields empty and proceed to the next step.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Toggle Active on and save">
    Switch **Active** to on and save the post. If no scheduling window was set, the post is now live in the feed. If a window was set, it will activate automatically at the defined start time.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Send a push notification (recommended)">
    Create and send a push notification that references the post to drive immediate awareness. Link the notification directly to the post for a seamless tap-through experience.
  </Step>
</Steps>
